Mining camps, oil and gas sites, construction camps and small islands share the same challenge: waste piles up and there is no collection service. A compact on-site incinerator is often the most practical solution.

Why Remote Sites Use Incinerators
- No municipal collection or landfill nearby
- Food waste attracts wildlife and pests
- Strict environmental and camp hygiene requirements
- Shipping waste off-site is expensive

Containerized incinerator
The incinerator is built into a shipping container – easy to transport, quick to install and protected from weather.

Small mobile incinerator
A compact unit such as the MWI-20 can be mounted on a trolley and moved around a site.

Fixed basic incinerator
For permanent camps or islands, a fixed SMWI-series unit offers larger capacity.
Practical Checklist
- Waste volume: camp waste is often 1–2 kg per person per day – measure yours.
- Fuel: diesel is usually easiest to supply at remote sites.
- Power: check whether you need a generator for fans and controls.
- Spare parts: order a spare parts kit with the unit.
- Training: make sure at least two operators are trained.
- Shipping: confirm container size and crane access at the site.
| Camp size | Approx. daily waste | Suggested model |
|---|---|---|
| 50 people | 50–100 kg | MWI-20 / SMWI-20 |
| 200 people | 200–400 kg | SMWI-30 / SMWI-50 |
| 500+ people | 0.5–1 t | SMWI-100 or larger |
Can a remote-site incinerator run without grid power?
Most units need power for burners, fans and controls. A diesel generator is commonly supplied together with the incinerator.
