Installing a Small Medical Waste Incinerator: Site, Power and Chimney Checklist

A small medical waste incinerator is quick to install – if the site is ready when it arrives. This checklist covers everything to prepare for the MWI-20, MWI-30 or MWI-50.

Site Checklist

  1. Concrete foundation – level, reinforced, larger than the unit footprint with working space around it; designed for the unit weight.
  2. Roof or shelter – protects the burners and control box from rain; allow the chimney to pass through or beside it.
  3. Clear space around the unit for loading, ash removal and maintenance.
  4. Power supply – correct voltage and frequency with a lockable isolator; generator backup where the grid is unreliable.
  5. Fuel tank – placed at a safe distance from the burner, with a bund to catch leaks.
  6. Chimney – above nearby rooflines; check local rules. See siting distance and chimney height.
  7. Waste storage – a locked, covered area for waste waiting to be burned.
  8. Ash storage – sealed containers or an ash pit above the water table.
  9. Access – for the truck or forklift delivering the unit.
  10. PPE and tools – gloves, goggles, respirator, ash tools.

Delivery and Commissioning

  • MWI-20 and MWI-30 ship assembled in a wooden crate; larger models are wrapped in protective PE film and loaded into a container, with chimney sections.
  • We provide the foundation drawing, operation manual and remote guidance.
  • First firing: check burners, fan, interlocks and temperature display, then run a test burn.
  • Train operators before routine use – see our operator training guide.

FAQ

Does a small medical incinerator need a special building?

No. A concrete pad with a roof or simple shelter is usually enough. Check local rules for distance to buildings.

Can the MWI-20 run on household 220V power?

The MWI-20 and MWI-30 run on 220V at 50 or 60 Hz. Confirm the available current with your electrician.

How tall is the chimney?

6 m on the MWI-20 and MWI-30 and 10 m on the MWI-50. It can be extended if your authority requires.

How long does installation take?

With the foundation ready, installation and commissioning of a small unit is quick. We confirm details for your project.
